Well It's Not All Bad Then-Parenting

So once in awhile I'm going to take a break from talking about money and saving money and talk about my other passion, my family. My seventeen year old daughter has been struggling and was diagnosed last year with depression and anxiety.  She also gets panic attacks.  I have been working with several agencies and the school to try to help her along her path and anyone else has a child with an emotional disability knows what I mean.  Today I was meeting with our in home therapist/Parent Coach and she gave me a little boost when she said "You know you are still in there advocating for your child and that is more than alot of families would be doing.  Alot of parents at this point would say pack your bags, go get a job, good luck and be done."

So I guess I can let go of a little of the guilt over not being able to make everything sunshine and roses for my daughter.  I didn't feel like the worst mother in the world today.  Lord knows we have so much work still to do but I guess if I am still in the fight with her, all is not lost!

Everybody's talking about it -TLC Extreme Couponing Show

If you belong to any deal/coupon sites or blogs-the hot topic the last few weeks has been the new TLC Extreme Couponing show which returns Wednesday, April 6.  I often get asked by my family or friends if that is me-am I an extreme couponer?  And I usually cringe at that term.  I don't want to be "extreme" in anything I do.  All things in moderation is my motto!

My couponing is a hobby and I go through ebbs and flows of when I coupon heavily and when I don't.  If there is a sale on thingamabobs at the local Rite Aid, I don't drop everything I'm doing to go see if I have a coupon for thingamabobs.  I don't have piles and piles of anything in my house (well except maybe laundry-yikes!).  I have a very modest stockpile of a few things and am actually envious of many's stockpiles that are neat, organized and complete! lol

I'd rather focus on a few "necessities" and making sure I get a good supply of those in my house without paying a lot for them than stockpiling on every item out there just because I can.

So while I will probably watch the show and I hold nothing against the people involved with the show (hey to each their own!)-that's just not me!
